Q1: What is the normal hard disk life span?
A1: This can be subjective and it rely on usage of the hard disk. Based on an proven observation, if the pc or workstation is being designated to handle work load related to graphic design work such as drawing or CAD or even some heavy 3D graphic tools, the hard disk will having lower life span against a pc or workstation which handle normal office task such as word, spreadsheet etc.
The reason behind is, usually graphical application required more memory for software execution and most of the time, page memory (kind of virtual memory from physical hard disk space to work as RAM memory) will be used extensively during execution of software, this will proportionally increase the read and write activities of the hard disk and hence, lower life span.

Beside backup the data regularly, there are 2 recommendations may improve the life span which are, increase physical RAM size or, save the working file in separate storage, separate from hard disk which application is installed.

Q2: I formatted my hard disk accidentally and try to recover with some downloaded recovery software, what should i do next? 
A2: First of all, please determine the capabilities of the software and follow the instructions closely possible, and please make sure that what you are about to perform may harm the data further, always take note on the safety procedure recommended by the software maker. But when you notice there is some unusual  mechanical noise, software recovery may not work at most cases.

Q3: I have a power surged hard disk and suspect that the circuit board of the hard disk burnt, can i get an identical hard disk model and swap the circuit board? 
A3: For most of the hard disk technologies, the content of each single hard disk circuit board can be exclusive, improper or unsuitable model may results a more severe damages on the hard disk. However, please take extra caution if you have decided to do so, please ensure all contact points are free from dust, water, mist and etc to prevent short circuit of electronic parts on the hard disk.
